  2. Better Outdoor Products sells Factory-Direct to our customers. Selling direct allows us to put more features into our mowers (like electric starting and hydrostatic drive) yet offer extremely competitive pricing. By “cutting out the middle-man” Better delivers the maximum value by essentially selling to everyone at “Dealer Price”. Ain’t the internet great?

Service parts and accessories are available 24/7 over our website or you’re always welcome to call during normal business hours to place your order. Parts orders received before 3:00 PM Eastern ship the same day and are delivered conveniently to your door via UPS. Expedited service is available at an extra charge.

Quick 36 was designed to be a simple machine to work on and maintain. If you’re the type of person who’s comfortable changing your oil or sharpening a blade, chances are good you have all the skills necessary to service and maintain your mower. For those instances where you’d prefer to have a dealer perform your service work, we’re more than happy to provide parts and technical assistance to the lawnmower repair shop of your choice.

We have very few warranty issues with our mowers, but when we do, we work directly with you and (if needed) the local lawnmower repair shop of your choice to get it resolved quickly and to your satisfaction. When you have a problem, it becomes our problem until it’s fixed.

We may be the manufacturer, but please also think of us as your dealer-partner. We’re here to earn your business every day.

  3. Is the Quick 36 the right mower for me?

  4. Now with five distinct versions, there's a Quick 36 that's right for just about every application. Fox, Super Fox, Mk.II, Super-Duty and the amazing new Kawasaki-Powered Samurai.

Every Quick 36 features the convenience of hydrostatic drive and the maneuverability and ease-of-use of our compact design. With five different engine and feature-level options, there’s a model that’s perfect for homeowner’s and hard-core commercial operators alike.

  5. Do you offer a riding attachment for the Quick 36?

  6. Our Step-Saver provides you with the versatility of riding behind your Quick 36 in open, relatively flat areas, or quickly removing it to walk over more challenging terrain. Designed with two wheels, the Step-Saver doesn't leave that "funky" stripe up the middle like a one-wheeled rider. Two wheels also make it more stable and puts less stress on the pivot points. And, speaking of pivot points... the Step-Saver uses ball bearings for smoother action and longer service life than the bushings used in competitive riders.

  7. Will the Quick 36 handle wet grass?

  8. Quick 36 has been extremely popular in the Pacific Northwest where it often rains daily during portions of the year. Our mowers are designed to mow (and go!) in any conditions. We’ve tested in pouring rain and even I’m surprised at times as to how little build-up we accumulate under our mowing deck. Our swept-tunnel design provides great airflow and excellent clipping dispersal, even in marginal conditions. And with hydrostatic drive, you never have to worry about belt slippage that’s common to belt-drive mowers.

  9. How do the controls work?

  10. The Quick 36 has four basic controls; brake, mower engagement, engine throttle and wheel drive.

At your left hand is a top mounted lever that operates the automatic braking and operator presence systems. By resting your left hand on the lever, you release the brake and engage the safety system. If you let go of the lever, Quick 36 automatically stops and goes into "park". As long as the mower deck is disengaged, it will sit there waiting patiently for you to return.

In the center of the operator console is the mower engagement lever. “On” makes the blades turn. “Off” makes them stop. And, unlike many homeowner mowers that use cheesy belt tighteners, the Quick 36 is equipped with a Noram SoftStart clutch/brake to drive the blades. This makes your belts last longer, makes the blades cut in the toughest grass and stops them quickly and safely when you disengage the mowing deck.

Right next to the deck engagement lever is the throttle control to regulate engine speed.

Now, here’s the cool part… At your right hand are the controls for both speed and direction. They allow you to easily set your perfect walking pace and to change direction instantly (which is really handy when trimming around obstacles or under low-lying branches). A pistol-grip style lever makes the machine move forward. Speed can be varied on the fly by simply squeezing the control a little more or a little less. Release the lever and your mower comes to a safe and immediate stop.

Next to the forward lever is a smaller thumb operated lever that controls reverse. If you want the mower to move backward, push down on the thumb lever and begin backing up. Release the thumb lever and the machine stops.

Run it once and you’ll throw rocks at a belt-driven mower. It’s very easy and convenient to use.

  11. Is your machine a Zero Turn Radius mower or do I have to steer it manually?

  12. We build what is referred to as a “single-drive hydro”. Unlike a skid-steer walk-behind (that'll leave divots all over your lawn if you don't turn it just right) Quick 36 uses a hydrostatic transaxle with a differential. This arrangement allows you to mow at your most comfortable pace and to change directions instantly with no clutching or shifting gears. By responding precisely to your steering input, the Quick 36 makes turns in a way that are both controllable and gentle on your turf. And, unlike other, bulkier single-hydro’s, the light-weight and compact design of the Quick 36 makes it easy to use with minimal effort.

  13. Can I get a Quick 36 delivered to my home?

  14. Your new mower will be delivered by one of our Premium Carriers to a terminal near your home. Simply call when your mower arrives and arrange a convenient time to pick it up. They will be happy to load it onto your truck or trailer.

For folks who live in a major market area and don’t have access to a pickup or a trailer, we offer expedited home delivery. For an additional charge of just $109.95 you can have your new mower delivered right to your driveway. We’re more than happy to arrange this service if you like… just let us know and we’ll handle the details.

  15. What about mulching?

  16. Quick 36 works well in all three modes; side-discharge, bagging and mulching. Our mulching kit baffles the “chute-side”, blocking the discharge and forcing the clippings to stay in the cutting chamber where they are recycled through the rotating blades. Our design keeps the clippings moving under the deck and provides even distribution over your lawn. We also offer Gator Mulching blades for your mower.

  17. Why do you use a 3-blade deck when nearly everyone else uses two?

  18. Quick 36 uses three blades for two main reasons. The first is, it gives a better, smoother quality of cut. The second is that it makes our machine very compact. Compared with other 36” 2-blade mowers, ours is 18-20” shorter front to rear. Quick 36 is even shorter (by 6-8") than most 21" push-mowers! This makes it much easier to handle, helps it fit easily into tight places and gives it a smaller footprint when it’s parked in your garage or on your trailer. Two Quick 36’s will fit in a standard 8’ pickup with the tailgate up!

  19. How does the Quick 36 handle on steep hills?

  20. Quick 36 works well on the types of slopes usually encountered on most lawns. With our forward-mounted engine design, weight is well-balanced over the drive wheels and front casters making it an excellent climber and keeping it from "rearing up" on steep hills. Our controls also allow you to move as slowly, up or downhill, as you need to maintain complete control. As with any brand of mower, please use great caution when mowing steep hills.

  21. Can I bag my grass with a Quick 36?

  22. Better Outdoor offers all-aluminum Accelerator grass catchers that are custom fit to our mowers. Due to their lightweight, great capacity and ease-of-use, Accelerator is regarded as the “Cadillac of catchers” throughout the pro-turf industry. Our catcher works particularly well for picking up leaves in Autumn.

  23. Is it a big deal to change the cutting height?

  24. Changing the cutting height on a Quick 36 takes one person about two minutes and requires one 3/4” wrench. The front is adjusted by re-arranging spacers on the front caster forks. The rear of the deck is mounted in curved slots and is spring assisted. Loosen one nut on each side, raise or lower the deck to your desired position, then retighten the nuts. It’s a very simple operation and unlike most commercial mowers, our deck cuts level in all seven cutting positions. Quick 36 decks can also be “pitched” in the back to suit your personal preference.

  25. Is there a number I can call to talk with someone?

  26. Absolutely! We’re always happy to talk with folks. Please call us at (toll-free) 866-290-7295. If you happen to be in the Carolina's, stop in and make us a visit! We don't have a huge mega-factory, but we're kinda proud of our plant. Give us a little advance notice and we'll give you a tour so you can see for yourself how Quick 36's get made!
